Romania attends International Mediterranean Tourism Market

Romania over February 14-15, 2012, in Tel Aviv, attends the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM), according to the information supplied by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MDRT).

The fair is meant both for experts and the wide audience and Romania's stand covers a total area of 66.5 square metres.

The IMTM is held in the time preceding the appearance of the sales catalogues of tour operators, this being a good opportunity to establish new contacts and make trade deals for the Romanian participating companies, but also for the Romanian offers to reach the direct consumer, according to MDRT.

Romania has been attending this fair for 16 years in a row. During its previous edition, on a net area of 4,400 square metres, the fair brought together 1,120 exhibitors from 38 countries and 22,000 visitors, 10,800 of whom were professionals.

Romania's tourism industry requests participation in this fair both for the incoming and for the outgoing, in order to establish new contacts in tourism and investments in this field.

According to MDRT, The Israeli tourists visiting Romania belong to all age brackets. Elderly tourists, over 60 years of age, are interested in visiting their birth places and balneal offers, whereas tourists up to 35 years are attracted by active tourism and adventures and the ones having a family, with 2-3 children, aged between 35 and 50, are attracted by the all-inclusive concept and short trips, strictly around the hotel and the town or city where they are accommodated. Israeli tourists live on medium incomes and buy 6-8 day organized round trips.

Israeli tourists are also interested in cultural tours including castles, palaces, fortresses, but only if they are connected and physically near to the main reason for their trip to Romania.

Another segment of Israeli tourists is the city break one, namely tourists that are taken over by various casinos in Romania, which ensures them all accommodation and meal services, trips to the areas near Bucharest, Sinaia and Brasov (central Romania) included.
